Picture Update

Holly is now 3 weeks old. At her two week Dr. appointment she weighed in at 7lb, 4oz. The doctor said she was doing great. She has been sleeping pretty well for us at night. Sometimes she likes to be awake around 4-5am, which is pretty rough. Thankfully, Dan is able to help me as much as he can. We are also thankful for Dan working at home and all the help he gives us during work hours. I'm glad I'm not completely alone all day! Elliott has been doing great with adjusting to life with a sister. Life is busy with two kids!

Here are some pictures from the last few weeks:

Two Weeks Old:

Dan introduced Elliott to He-Man, and then made him this cardboard sword. Elliott likes to pretend he is He-Man now.

We've been spending a lot of time in the yard. It's easy to entertain Elliott...give him the hose and he will happily water everything...including me!

This is what I saw at Amy's house last week. Elliott said he and Cameron were, "making a party". Basically it's a wheel barrel full of water, bark dust, dirt and bark chips. I think Cameron had already gotten soaked (which is why he has no pants on) and Elliott was in the process. They were thrilled with themselves!

Elliott likes to make this face at me:

And, finally, Holly sleeping so peacefully tonight:

What Elliott Says

Elliott is full of funny comments daily. Here is some of what I heard today:

"I'm going to be tall like Daddy and fat like Mommy" - Thanks! I think I must have said I was fat one too many times while I was pregnant.

When Holly is crying Elliott will get in her face and say, "Look at me Baby Holly, I'm your big brother". It is really sweet, but not necessarily very helpful with calming her down.

He also likes to turn everything around on you. If I was to say, "it's raining out", Elliott would respond by saying, "no, it's not raining". Doesn't matter what the truth is, he likes to be contrary, all the time!

Baby Holly Is Here!

As you can tell, Dan has created a new blog for our growing family. I believe if you went to Elliott's blog it will automatically redirect you here. It's so nice to know someone who is so good with this stuff!

Welcome Baby Holly Elise Porter!!

She arrived on July 3rd, was 6lbs, 13 oz and measured 20'' long (though I'm skeptical about that one).

Around 3:45am I woke up from a dream where I was having a baby and it was painful. The pain was real as I was having my first contraction. Throughout the night I timed them, showered, ate, snoozed. At around 8:20am I decided to wake Dan up because the contractions had become closer together and much more painful. We called his parents to come for Elliott and we finished packing for the hospital. After a very happy epidural I was able to deliver Holly at 2:50pm.

**I wrote the above last week, am just now getting back to finishing up this post**

Things around here have been good. Dan has been able to take 2 weeks off work and stay home with Elliott, Holly and I. Elliott is loving all the time with Dan and I love all the help he has been. Holly has been a really easy baby, so far. For the last 3 nights she has even slept well. She wakes up about every 3-4 hours to eat and might stay awake for an hour afterwards, but she has been sleeping amazingly well. I honestly can't even complain about feeling sleep deprived. Elliott has been adjusting well, too. He hasn't shown any jealousy over Holly. Mostly he is just upset that all the things he expected to be able to do with me still can't happen because I'm healing. I'm not sure what happened, but he's even listening better and has become a really good helper.
